An ALL-VOLUNTEER effort, we started back in 2020, during COVID, as the previous Presidential Race was underway. The need is even greater today as we know clearly about what threats to democracy under the current Administration.

We welcome voters of all persuasions and NPA except for MAGA GOP, whose efforts are commited to destroying almost 250 years of this Great Experiment in self rule in favor of autocratic fascism.
We host events for you and your neighbors.
We host a variety of events: Social, Educational, Candidate Meetups, Volunteering opportunities. Some of our events are in collaboration with Indivisible Action of Southwest FL and Charlotte County Democrats! We use our FACEBOOK GROUP, as well as, this website, and occasional newsletters to keep everyone informed. Be sure to BOLO for invites via your Facebook event invitations or if you aren’t into FB, bookmark this website and check back often for updates. All FOD members get invited to our events.

5 Calls is the easiest and most effective way for U.S. constituents to have a political impact. They help you find your elected Congressional representatives (along with their contact info), inform you of current issues, (and let you CHOOSE those most important to YOU), as well as providing actual scripts that you can use when contacting your elected Congress members about the issues you are most concerned about.

Not everyone is comfortable wearing their political beliefs on their sleeve. So we made these cards (business card-size to make it easy to carry around) for you to share with your neighbors what our Friends of Democracy group is about. You can put your name and number on the back to make it easy for them to ask you questions about joining the group. (Or invite them to accompany you to the next event!)
We make these available to you at every event so you can grab a handful and share them, and come back for more!

It really takes a village to make events happen; to post information, HUMOR, and news in our group, and to actively participate in various volunteer roles within and outside of Babcock Ranch.

Pat Strong has been my go-to partner in so MANY things! She and I ran for Democratic Convention Delegate in tandem this summer. Pat also serves as the Democratic Party Precinct Captain for Babcock Ranch! She enlists her husband, Lester, in as many shenanigans as I do Paul McCreery. Paul is also our voting guru, having worked every election since we moved here in 2019, including the inauguration of our VOTING PRECINCT in 2020. He understands registration, voting by mail, primaries and general elections, plus the myriad rule changes as Florida continues its voter suppression efforts. He ALWAYS has my back, for every event and meeting. NONE of this would be possible without his steadying support! Amy Skates-Stowe is our secret weapon, as a digital native (practically), an active BNS parent, and native of this area. She has a beat on what’s happening in town in a way few can match!
